This Privacy Policy explains how Hatchery Games inc. (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information in connection with the game Voidling Bound (the “Game”) and our website, voidlingbound.com (the “Site”). We’ve kept it short and plain. By playing the Game, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
We are Hatchery Games inc., a game studio based in Quebec, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information under our control.
Our designated person responsible for the protection of personal information (our “Privacy Officer”) is Simon Grelier. For any privacy question or request — including to exercise your rights under Quebec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (“Law 25”) — contact us at privacy@hatcherygames.com.
A. The Game
2. What we collect
We collect very little, and only what’s needed to keep the Game working and to fix problems:
- Crash and diagnostic data. If the Game crashes, we use crash-reporting tools to receive a crash report. This can include a crash dump, log files, your hardware and operating-system details (such as your CPU, GPU, drivers, memory, and operating-system version, among other technical specifications), the Game version, and your IP address. You can choose whether to send a crash report, and you can add a note describing what happened.
- Store data. The Game is distributed through Steam and the Epic Games Store. These platforms handle your account, purchase, playtime, achievements, and cloud saves under their own privacy policies (see section 4). We may see aggregate or limited player statistics through them.
- Game progress. We may receive your game progression (save data), for example when it is included in a crash report or shared with us for support, so we can reproduce and resolve issues.
We do not run in-game ads, sell your data, build advertising profiles, or ask you to create an account with us.
3. How we use information
We use this information only to:
- diagnose, reproduce, and fix crashes and bugs;
- understand technical issues affecting players (e.g. a specific driver or hardware);
- improve the stability and quality of the Game.
Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the Game working and supporting players, and where required, your consent (for example, when you choose to send a crash report).
4. Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that make the above possible:
- BugSplat — processes crash reports on our behalf. See BugSplat’s privacy policy.
- Valve / Steam — distributes the Game and provides platform services. See Valve’s privacy policy.
- Epic Games / Epic Games Store — distributes the Game and provides platform services. See Epic’s privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if required by law. We do not otherwise sell or share your personal information.
5. Data retention
Crash and diagnostic data is stored on BugSplat’s servers and retained in accordance with BugSplat’s own retention and privacy policies. While we are actively investigating a crash, a copy of the relevant report (and any save data attached to it) may be downloaded onto our team members’ computers; these local copies are deleted as soon as the issue is resolved, and in any event within one (1) year. Store-side data is retained by Valve and Epic under their own policies.
B. The Website & Newsletter
6. The newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter on the Site, we collect your email address through Kit (formerly ConvertKit), our newsletter provider, and use it only to send you news about the Game. Our legal basis is your consent, which you give by subscribing. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time — we’ll stop emailing you and your address is removed from our mailing list. See Kit’s privacy policy for how Kit handles your information.
C. General provisions
7. International transfers
We are based in Canada, and our service providers (including BugSplat, Epic Games, Kit, and Valve) are located in the United States. This means your information may be processed outside your country, including in the U.S., under that country’s laws. We rely on these providers’ own safeguards for such transfers.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under Quebec’s Law 25, Canada’s PIPEDA, the EU/UK GDPR, and California’s CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information held about you, and to withdraw consent.
Most of your data is held by our platform and service providers, so the fastest way to exercise your rights is directly with them:
- BugSplat — for crash-report data, see BugSplat’s GDPR information.
- Steam / Valve — for your Steam account, purchase, and gameplay data, use Steam’s privacy tools.
- Epic Games — for your Epic account, purchase, and gameplay data, use your Epic account’s privacy settings.
For any request concerning information we hold directly, email us at privacy@hatcherygames.com and we’ll respond within a reasonable time.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above.
